Mesa Golfers Making A Difference This Holiday Season

Coach John Guerrero and his golfers helped deliver a little Christmas spirit to underprivileged families in the valley this holiday season.   The Mesa golfers participated in the Adopt-A-Family program which delivers gifts to families who struggle this time of year to afford gifts for their children.

It was the fifth straight year the Mesa Golf team has participated in the program and Coach Guerrero expects the tradition to continue.

“As long as Mesa Golf is in existence, we’re going to do what we can to make a difference and the players love it just as much,” says Guerrero.

The main goal of the program is to deliver gifts directly to the families in need. This year the team gathered 50 gifts and two $200 grocery gift cards for two families. One was a family of three and the other a family of seven.

The Loving Care Agency, a valley-based pediatric center that specializes in premature children and house calls organized the project with the Adopt-A-Family foundation.

In addition to Coach Guerrero and his wife Karen, the golfers who participated this holiday season were Craig Clifford, Grant Dean, Mike DeAngelo, Edward Delashmutt, Andrew Jerman, Gavin Kwon, Leo Maes III, Ryan Mahoney, Kevin Witte, Monique Breault, Dawn Florance, Brianna Hickman, Jennifer Murray, and Nicole Picallo.

This year’s event went extremely well and the players really enjoyed the experience.

“I was excited to have an opportunity to give back to the community. The chance to give the kids a Christmas day smile makes it all worth it,” says golfer Nicole Picallo.
