Men Looking To Heat Up Before Regional Championship

The Mesa Men’s Golf Team continues to leave themselves within striking distance for a regional title.  They have wrapped up their regular season and are now trying to get their games in order for regionals. 

On April 12-13 they competed in the Gateway CC Invitational at the Kokopelli Golf Course in Gilbert, AZ.  The team finished in third place, shooting a 609.  Eddie Delashmutt led the way firing a +1, 72-73-145 to tie for fifth.  He was five strokes off the winner, Davis Garner of South Mountain.  Ryan Mahoney took ninth with a 150.  Kevin Witte snuck into the top 20 with a 154 to tie in 18th.  As a team the T-Birds finished 31 strokes behind winner South Mountain.

Mesa was back in action April 19-20 for the Eastern Arizona Invite at Mt. Graham Golf Club in Thatcher, AZ.  The T-Birds again took third place with a -10, 566.  South Mountain took first place, shooting a -28, 548.  Kevin Witte led the T-Birds going -5, with a 72-67-139 to tie in seventh.  Eddie Delashmutt and Gavin Kwon both shot a 142, to go -2, and tie for 12th.  Ryan Mahoney was the fourth Mesa golfer in the top 20, firing a 143, to sneak in under par at -1.  He finished tied for 15th.

Next up for men is the Region I Championship at Palm Valley Golf Club in Litchfield, AZ, April 29-May 2.
