Second-Ranked Mesa Men's Golf Opens Play in NJCAA Nationals Tuesday

  PLYMOUTH, IND. - The second-ranked Mesa men's golf team goes in search of a national championship when it begins play in the NJCAA Division II national championship tournament Tuesday at the Indiana National Golf Club.

   "We like the way the course sets up for our games," says head coach John Guerrero.  "Accuracy will be key for our success.  We are eager for the tournament to begin."

  MCC enters as the highest-ranked team in the field, having eliminated No. 1-ranked South Mountain in the course of winning the Region I championship.

  The T-Birds have all five of their players ranked among the top 28 in the nation.

  Austin Fletcher (Fr., Memphis, Tenn/Mountain Pointe H.S.) is No. 6, Jacob Montplaisir (So. Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) is No. 12, Ryan Witte (So., Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista H.S.) is 14th, Justin Hyden (So., Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe H.S.) is 17th and Ben Potter (So., Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe H.S.) is 28th.

  The T-Birds have placed among the top ten at the national championships in seven of the past ten years.
