Todd Kirchener and Jameson Castille warmed up for their 4x400m relay event by taking victory in the 400m and 600m respectively. The relay team then concluded a successful trip to Southern Arizona for Mesa runners winning with a season best mark of 3:19.65.

Thunderbird throwers Jessica Schmitt (javelin), Gerard Ingallina (shot) and Jacob McBride (weight throw) also took first place in their field events. McBride finished an agonising three centimetres off the national qualifying mark and received the biggest groan of the day when he fouled out after heaving what was undoubtedly his longest effort of the day. On the evidence of this meet, it should not be long before he uncorks a really big throw.
