Both teams now 5-3 in ACCAC play

Mesa did what they had to do at home on Wednesday night, January 11.

They defeated Coach Laura Hughes and the Lady Apaches, 64-49, in a game that was never really close.

Both Alli Gloyd and Kalasia Green came up with monster games for the T'Birds, who move to 12-5 on the season.

Gloyd notched her third straight double-double as she scored 21 points on seven of 14 shooting.  She added 15 big rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Green added 19 points on six of 11 from the floor.  She also added four assists and two steals as Mesa cruised to the 15-point win.

Mesa also won the battle on the glass, 44-39.

On the night, the Lady T'Birds shot 42% from the floor (24 of 58), although the team struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just two of 13. 

Up next is the MLK Classic this Saturday as Mesa hosts Phoenix College at 3:00 pm as they look for their fourth win in a row. 

The men tip immediately following at 5:00 pm.
