The Mesa Lady Thunderbirds are in a nice groove as the season reaches the final month.

Mesa demolished the Lady Gauchos of Glendale on the road on Wednesday night, January 25, 84-46, to move to 15-5 overall and 8-3 in the ACCAC.

The game was all Mesa indicated by the final score and Kalasia Green's shooting clinic in the first half was the main reason.

Green scored 16 of her team-high 20 in the first stanza.  The guard went five of 10 from beyond the arc, grabbed three rebounds, added two assists, and two steals as Mesa won its sixth straight.

The team shot 50% on the night (35 of 70), which is a good indicator for the team's win.

Alli Gloyd notched another double-double for the T'Birds with 17 points on seven of 12 shooting, and 10 boards.

Mariam Ridgwell was perfect from the floor (seven of seven) and Mesa outrebounded Glendale 32-27 to sweep the season series by a combined margin of 61 points.

Jade Wilson returned for the Lady T'Birds in a big way as she swatted five shots away for her team.

Jenay Locke led the way distributing the basketball as she doled out nine assists.

Next up for Coach Stephenson the ladies is a trip to Yuma this Saturday as they try to avenge an earlier loss to the Lady Matadors (51-42 on Nov. 29).  Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.

Glendale falls to 11-10 overall and 4-8 in the ACCAC.
