After an 8-7 season, including a 6-4 mark in the ACCAC, Coach Cohen and the Mesa Lady Thunderbirds Tennis Program is off to the NJCAA National Tournament this Friday, May 4.

The tournament is held at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas on Sunday, May 6 through Friday, May 11, and the Mesa Lady Thunderbirds, Co-Runners Up in Region I (tied with Eastern Arizona College) will look to stake their claim on the 2012 NJCAA Women’s Tennis National Championship.

Mesa’s 12 points in the Region I Championships was a solid effort and good enough to gain a berth in this year’s “Big Dance.”

Savannah Skarda, a freshman out of Red Mountain High School took #3 overall in the Region and was Mesa’s highest finisher.

Basha graduate and sophomore Kelsey Ferguson, Westwood graduate and sophomore Meagan LeSueur, Mountain View graduate and freshman Madison Porter, along with Jordyn Parry (Idaho Falls HS, ID), Briana Prothero (Villa Park HS, CA), and Brittney Trenter (Sutter HS, CA) will represent Mesa CC and look to bring home Coach Cohen’s first national title.
